We have one mission: create the best possible experience for users looking for a vacation rental property. To do this we believe that:

Listings should be free - this will attract the most listings and so create one place where a user can find the most complete inventory of houses. We will never charge for the basic listing of a rental property.

Maps should be the primary way of finding houses - location is what users care about most.

Communication about vacation home rentals on RentalSpot.Com should be easy.

There should be easy ways to communicate among users and owners to help narrow down the best rental property.

The community should act as the police force to ensure fraudulent or inaccurate listings are quickly exposed.

Friends and Family are no longer left out of the vacation rental decision!

So What's the Catch?

So if this service is free to list on, and you don't have a bunch of ads, why are you doing this? First off, we're both owners and renters of vacation properties and felt there was a much better way of listing and finding vacation rentals compared to what is available today. That said, we do have three business models over time:

At some future point we may sell premium services such as getting properties listed at the top of search results, or adding premium content (e.g a link to a website or a video). However, basic listings will always be free to the owner.
We may market certain products and services to owners, agencies and those users who have opted into receiving marketing materials.
We may provide additional tools or services to our property owners or agencies, such as credit card processing.

We are both vacation home owners and renters, based in Charlottesville, VA. Over the years, we became frustrated by the options available to both owners/agencies and renters.
