Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is it really free?
  • Yes, RentalSpot.Com's basic listing is completely free, and includes most things other sites make you pay for.
  • If the site is free, what is your business model?
  • First off, we're both owners and renters of vacation properties and felt there was a much better way of listing and finding vacation rentals compared to what is available today. That said, we do have three business models over time:
    • At some future point we may sell premium services such as getting properties listed at the top of search results, or adding premium content (e.g a link to a website or a video). However, basic listings will always be free to the owner.
    • We may market certain products and services to owners, agencies and those users who have opted into receiving marketing materials.
    • We may provide additional tools or services to our property owners or agencies, such as credit card processing.
  • How do I list my vacation rental?
  • Here are the steps you will take to advertise your vacation rental for free:
    1. You must be a registered user of the site. If you have not registered, please click here to complete the sign-up process
    2. Once you have successfully logged in, you will be directed to your Dashboard.
    3. In the dashboard, look for the Property Manager section. Click the red button labeled 'Add a Property'. (You may need to scroll down)
    4. Finally, complete the short and easy Wizard to enter your information about the property, and on the last step, click 'Submit for Approval'.
  • Why are the listings submitted for approval?
  • In order to assist in keeping the site clean from spam, or offensive content, each property is reviewed by a human.
  • What happens if my property is not approved?
  • While 99% of our postings are approved, there may be cases where RentalSpot.Com disapproves content due to editorial reasons.

If your property is not approved, you will receive a notification with information as to what should change to fix the editorial issue. Simply go to your dashboard, and then Edit the property that was rejected. Make the changes suggested, and resubmit the property for approval.

  • Who is Deposit Guard?

  • How long does it take for my vacation rental to be approved?
  • Generally it takes 24-48 hours, however most of our vacation rental listings are approved in under 24 hours.
  • How will I know my vacation rental home listing has been published?
  • You will receive a email notification which will provide you a link to the published information.
  • We are a Agency and manage many properties, how can I add bulk listings to your site?
  • If your Agency manages more than 20 properties, please contact us, and we will discuss how to efficiently upload your listings so you don't have to spend time entering them.
  • What position will my vacation rental display when a user searches?
  • Your vacation rentals position is determined mainly on the users input. By default, all vacation rental listings are sorted based on their distance from the location the user searched. Users can additionally sort by price.
  • Why isn't my vacation rental listing displaying when I search my area?
  • There can be a few reasons for this:
    1. Your vacation rental listing may not be approved, go to your dashboard and click Edit next to the vacation rental property, and review the text at the top.
      • If the message states 'Information Current', then this isn't the issue.
      • If the message states 'Not Approved' and is red, then you must repair the editorial issues and re-submit. When the property is approved, it will display on the site.
      • If the message text is Yellow and states "Information Not Submitted", this means a change has been made to your content which must be approved to be published. Please resubmit the vacation rental home for approval. Your listing is currently published, but contains the original content approved. If you see this, you should see your listing on the site.
    2. The Location you searched isn't close enough to your vacation rental home. If your property is less than 10 miles from the center of where you searched, your vacation rental will not display. Increase your maximum distance setting, or click New Search and enter a address or location closer to your vacation rental property.
