Description
Amadora, meaning the gift of love in Italian, is a 3 bedroom 2½ bath vintage Sonoma craftsman-style 2200 square foot house, built in 1891. This warm and charming house sits on almost half an acre of land, totally enclosed to give you privacy and let you forget about the world. It is also a gardener’s paradise, with 30 fruit trees, various berries, newly planted table grapes, roses and a host of other plants which peak during different seasons of the year. A nearby walking trail leads to Sonoma Plaza.
Upon entry through the gated arbor, follow the flagstone pathway flanked by flowers on both sides, then climb up a few steps to the breezy front porch with Adirondack chairs, or sit in the comfortable love seat while absorbing the morning rays in the sun room. Through the double French door, you will find the living room, adorned with a settee, a Chippendale style sofa, and a flat screen TV, surrounding a fire place and a great mantle.
The main bedroom features a plush new California king sized bed. The second and third bedrooms each have a new pillow-top queen bed, for a restful night’s sleep. Views of the Sonoma hillside are available from all bedrooms.
The new recreation room offers pool table, bar area, and a lounge area including a 55" TV.
Relax and unwind, or simply get a suntan, in the lounge chairs just outside the covered back porch. To the right is a hot tub for four with an outdoor shower facility, and to the left is an eating area for six with a three burner BBQ. Take a siesta after a nice meal, lie down and swing gently on the hammock for two.
The garden offers delights throughout the year. Forage for strawberries among the berry patch, which also includes newly planted blackberries, blueberries, red and golden raspberries, and nine varietals of table grapes. Meander among the mature fruit trees, and savor the natural goodness of tree-ripened fruit, such as apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, cherries, figs, tangerines, oranges, limes, grapefruit or pommelo. New additions for 2010 harvest include kiwi, seedless pomegranates, coffeecake and chocolate persimmons, and four varieties of pluots. Among the grove of the trees, settle back in a rocking chair, or relax on the comfortable sectional sofa, under a garden gazebo complete with drawable curtains and chandelier. Delight in the riot of flowers, including eighteen varieties of roses (many David Austen), over fifteen strains of dahlias, numerous peonies, buddleias, azaleas, hollyhocks and lavender, and over 500 spring bulbs.
